What drives us...
“The only way to get the best produce is to have first pick of the day. And there are only two ways to get first pick: Grow it yourself, or bribe a grower” - Ratatouille
For cooks passionate about good food, it can be an adventure (euphemism) hunting down the best food. At one point, we decided, “Wouldn’t it be better and easier to just the the food we want to eat?”
Better yes… easier… well… as the years and experience go on, I would argue yes. But I can regale you about the first season of “nothing but kale.” However, we are now at a point where we provide for the earth, and it provides for us. What truly gives us joy is knowing that we participate in a harmonious feedback loop where we take care of the land and the animals, and in turn they take care of us and the environment.
It is not an understatement to say that we love good food. Naturally, there is nothing like walking out to the garden and pick what you will make for dinner. The terroir is unique; we grow what we eat, and we eat what is fresh.
Who we are...
Hualalai Farms is a portmanteau of our last names, and is named after one of our favorite mountain ranges on the Big Island of Hawaii (even though we are in the Pacific Northwest). Our farmstead is located in the "agrihood" of Skokomish Valley Farms. Our 43 acre lot is embedded within our approximately 750 acre agrihood. We strive to cultivate our farmstead with a sustainable approach using organic practices. We grow fruits and vegetables suited to our Pacific Northwest climes, with a focus on foods of the Asian diaspora. We also raise goats for milk, chickens for meat and eggs, rabbits, and an apiary for honey and beeswax.
We have a 27 foot long two-level tiny house for visitors and guests. For those who would like to visit overnight, please see our Airbnb listing here or paste this URL into your browser:

Farm Layout
We actively farm about 5 acres of our lot. This layout shows the area that is “permanently” fenced. Within the fenced area, we have our main residence, a tiny house, a potager garden, an organic swimming pond, 2 hoop houses, 2 orchards, 2 apiaries, 1 chicken paddock, and 4 rotational grazing pens. Outside the fenced area, we also have electric net fencing for our pigs.
